Unlike my fellow committee members who have been around table tennis for years and years, I am relatively new to the sport and have only been fully committed to playing it for the last three years. It has been a blast, what an awesome sport - played by awesome people from all walks of life. I wanted to give back by joining the committee, hopefully my skills in project management, engineering and construction will be an asset. TTC have some of the best players and coaches in New Zealand, now we just need to make sure our facilities are the same. I'm super excited to be a part of this committee and very proud to be involved with the stadium upgrade. 2023 is going to see some exciting and awesome changes to our wonderful stadium. Any ideas, concerns or feedback please come up to me and have a chat (or any of the committee members), I seem to be at the stadium most days.

Table tennis has been a huge part of my life in Germany, Australia and New Zealand. I played in Germany's strong league system and competed on regional and national level. What I loved most about it was my table tennis family –the club, my amazing team mates and lifelong friendships, the supporters who cheered for us at our home games and the fun we had on our trips away. Careerwise, I have over 30 years’ experience working in corporate finance and not-for-profits predominantly in leadership positions in strategic fundraising. One of my goals as Treasurer of TTC is to set us up as one of the leading and financially sustainable table tennis organisations in the country. A lot of work has already gone into this over the last couple of years, and I am pleased to have led TTC to the strong financial position we are in today.

I have been involved in Canterbury Table Tennis since 2001, both as a representative and as a serving committee member continuously for over 15 years, both as a selector and on the interclub and player development sub committees. Now retired I contribute to Table Tennis through coaching and in my business, Table Tennis Gear, importing and selling equipment. I’m also Club Captain of the Kirwee club. I love to travel and have participated in many tournaments around New Zealand and also played regularly at the Australian Veterans and in China, Phuket , Vietnam, Bali and Fiji. My coaching philosophy is to the get the best out each player, working drills based around game situations and helping to develop good footwork. I have also coached Badminton and played high level squash and golf. Born in Christchurch, I have lived here all my life gaining a degree at Canterbury University and am married with two adult children and two grandsons.

I've played table tennis since I was young, as both my parents played competitively. It has provided me with countless friendships throughout New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Europe, the United Kingdom and beyond. Amongst the many highlights is the camaraderie that comes with being a part of a team, be it at club, provincial or national level. I also very much enjoy training hard to try to be the best I can, whatever I am doing. In terms of table tennis competition, my highest achievement would probably be representing New Zealand at the 2016 World Teams Championships in Malaysia. Aside from competing, I have also been involved in table-tennis administration and promotion, including as a board member for TTNZ and committee member for TTC. In that space, my particular interests are in designing events and competitions. Outside of table tennis, I work as a product manager for a software company, and spend a fair amount of my time in the pursuits of golf, snooker and cricket.

I started playing table tennis at 13 years old after getting bored of watching my brother play. Once I started playing, I could not stop. I am originally from the Mighty Manawatu, where I was a player and was on the committee for several years until I moved to Christchurch for my tertiary studies. I have been in the National Squad for six years. I have had the privilege of representing New Zealand on four occasions at both a junior and senior level. I hope to encourage more individuals to find a passion for Table Tennis and create life-long relationships as I have experienced.

I am brand new to the sport of table tennis and am thoroughly excited to have my first experience here with Table Tennis Canterbury. One of my favourite aspects of sport is the relationships and connection with others; it seems this awesome sport is no different. The community has been super welcoming! I have had years of experience is a number of sports in all different areas, but a lot of my passion lies in coaching basketball. I am a part of the Mainland Pouakai coaching staff for the Tauihi League and have had recent success winning U20 nationals in 2023 and 2024 as the head coach of the Canterbury U20 women's team. I'm sure it won't be long before you find me on the tables giving table tennis a crack!
